The first of these small, basic buses, the 8ft wide version, arrived in 1973. Further examples, of the 7ft 6in wide version arrived in 1975/6. They had heavy manual boxes and no power steering. They gave a very bumpy ride, and were not very popular. However, they were reasonably reliable and were acceptable for those services for which they were designed; lightly trafficked country routes. However, they were pressed into service as substitutes on all routes, even working Green Line services, for which they were ill equipped.
